"And above all things, have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins."
1 Peter 4:8

Why is love so important?  First, because it is the greatest virtue.  Love supersedes faith and hope.  Second, because it is the greatest command.  Jesus said, "Thou shall love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind"  (Matthew 22:37)  Third, love is the greatest testimony.  What is really going to make your community wake up and believe that your church is really the church of the Lord Jesus Christ?  The size of your building?  The way your lawn Looks?  The signage at the street?  No.  The way you love God and show love to others.

Do you believe in miracles?  Do you believe that God gives miracles to all who ask for them?  An old preacher once said that "Too many people expect miracles to be like greeting cards - one for every occasion."  Maybe he is right.  Should our heart be right with God before we ask for a miracle?  Maybe so.

Because God loves you, He has invited you to enjoy eternal life with Him in Heaven.  Jesus said:  "I am the way and the truth and the life".  Jesus made a way for you to get to Heaven.  He did it just for you.  Accept that invitation and start living a joyous life, knowing that whatever happens, you have a place that is prepared for you in Gloryland.  No one can take that away from you.  Believe it!  Accept it!  Enjoy it!

When restlessness happens, just know that God is working in our lives and HE is faithful just as the sun rises each and every morning.  HE is always present, ready to calm the storms of our lives.  Ask HIM to calm your storm, if you have one this morning.

"But it is good for me to draw near to God:  I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all Thy works.
Psalm 73:28

We can be so protective of our reputations, can't we?  I know of preachers who have lost their children because they were more concerned about what people thought than what God taught.  Maybe some of you are raising teenagers, and they dress in a way that isn't your style.  Maybe your church friends are saying some unpleasant things.  Let them criticize!  God knows your heart.  Those children are yours, not theirs.  You need to love them with everything that God gives you.  Stand by their side.  Never sacrifice your son or daughter on the altar of your reputation.  Trust your children to the Lord.  Ask God to give you His wisdom so you can see how He is fulfilling His promise of Romans 8:28 in every situation.

WHAT IF!  Is God enough for you?  So many times we say, "Oh, I love the Lord because he has given me a wonderful family."  OR, "I love the Lord because of the beautiful day He has given."  I call this "because" kind of love.  And that kind of love can be threatening.  What if a woman told her husband, "Honey, I love you because you're so rich."  Then he loses his health and ability to earn an income for the family.  What if a husband told his wife, "I love you because you're such a great cook."  And she loses her ability to cook.  These would be threats to the future of their love for one another.  They could say, "Well, since I can no longer do this, I have lost his/her love."  A lot of people love God this way.  They love Him as long as He is blessing them.  But what if His blessings were taken away?  Would you still love Him?

"Neither is there salvation in any other; for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved."
Acts 4:12

Why did Jesus come to earth?  Luke 19:10 tells us.  "For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which is lost."  Jesus Himself said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father buy by me."  John 14:6.  He is the solitary Savior, the only Savior.

I've often said Jesus is not a good way to heaven.  Jesus is not the best way to heaven.  Jesus is the only way to heaven.  When you say that, a lot of people gt their hackles up, but I still want to tell you, apart from Jesus, there is no salvation.l  He said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life."

He's not just one more Savior.  If He's not the only Savior, He's no Savior because He said He was the only Savior.  I've got some wonderful news for you, friend.  He can save anyone.

Because of the birthday of Jesus, each year you are one year closer to heaven, one year closer, if you know Him, to seeing His dear face.  Who is Jesus?  He is the Son of God who left heaven, came to this earth, suffered, b led, died, and walked out of that grave a living, risen Savior.  He's the one who sent me to tell you that He loves you.  He wants to save you and He will save you today if you'll give Him your heart.  If you have not already done so, do it today.  Pray, "Jesus, I give You my heart.  I believe You died to save me.  You will save me if I trust in You, Jesus.  I'm trusting You today."

"Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and He shall sustain thee:  He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved."
Psalm 55:22

I have a preacher friend who was on an airplane when the weather got really rough.  The lady next to him was whimpering a little from fear and so he turned to her and tried to comfort her.  She said, "Do you mean to tell me you're not afraid?"  And he replied, "Well, I have committed my life into the keeping of my heavenly Father.  And I will have to be honest, I have reminded Him about that fact several times since we've been up here."  Remind the Lord of His keeping as often as you want when times are rough.  Cast your burden upon the Lord, and leave it there.  Don't pick it back up.  He is able.  In fact, He is more than able.

Do you know that God's work is perfect?  Everything that God does is perfect.  Our work is wrought with flaws and mistakes, but His work is perfect.  Even the best that man can do is imperfection.  Take a sewing needle that looks so smooth and sleek.  Put it under a microscope and adjust it until you can see the intricate detail of that needle.  What will you find?  It will look like a raggedy old pine stump with broken bark.  Now, pick a rose off a bush and put one of its petals under that microscope.  You will be amazed at the miniature world of design and delicacy because God's work is perfect.  He never makes a mistake.  Do you feel like a mistake today?  As I said, God does everything perfect.  You were created by Him.

"Jesus answered and said..if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done."
Matthew 21:21

I like Face Book and our web page.  Alot of times people are bringing up old events and happenings that has touched our hearts.  I like old music and movies of the past.  I enjoy reading about the little town I grew up in "Brightwood".  Its been a long time ago now, that I remember riding my bike down Station street to go to the drugstore, and without locking my bike, it was still there when I came out to ride it home.  Not today!  Well this day is another 4th of July and I would bet that most people can't tell you what this day means.  Very sad in our country today to see it in the shape its in.

When a nation loses its ability to discern morality, and to say that which is wrong to be right, and that which is right to be wrong, we are embarking on a slippery slope toward self-destruction.  When a nation turns it back on the commands of God, He will say, "That's the last step.  I wash My hands.  You asked for it.  You got it."

America is in a crisis, and unless we have a moral rebirth, we will join the graveyard of the nations--it's time to wake up.  Time is passing--it's time to look up.  Jesus is coming--it's time to sober up.  Satan is working--it's time to pray up.  Mountains need moving.  Why not today, ask the Lord to heal our land, forgiving the iniquities of the wicked by bringing salvation to their souls.  We have a great God who can and will forgive, if we just ask Him too!  Happy 4th of July to all my FB and web page friends.
