"And above all things, have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins."
1 Peter 4:8
Why is love so important? First, because it is the greatest virtue. Love supersedes faith and hope. Second, because it is the greatest command. Jesus said, "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind"
Third, love is the greatest testimony. What is really going to make your community wake up and believe that your church is really the church of the Lord Jesus Christ? The size of your building? The way your lawn looks? The signage at the street? No. The way you love God and show love to others.
"The just man walketh in his integrity; his children are blessed after him."
Can I ask you a question? What kind of an example are you leading, as a parent, spouse or neighbor? Integrity, what is that, you may ask? Well let me say this; This world says if we could just arrange conditions where we never have any sorrow, pain, or hurts, then we could change men. If we can change conditions, we can change character. But the Bible teaches just the opposite. The world puts the emphasis on condition--God puts the emphasis on character. Someone has well said you can't purify the water by painting the pump. And yet, that's what we try to do. We think that if we an change the exterior or make conditions such that we never have any hurts, then we're going to be okay, BUT, Jesus put the emphasis upon character. Upon what you are, not what you have. Is there someone in your life you admire? Someone who is a person of integrity. Praise God for His work in that person's life and give him or her a word of encouragement.
What is Happening? Are things happening around you that makes you wonder how did this happen? Our lives are changed almost daily by what is happening around us. I heard an elderly man say once, "There are three kinds of people: Those who make things happen, those who watch things happening, and those who say. 'WHAT HAPPENED". Be active in your church and community, your children deserve a better life ahead of them.
A storm! I was awaiting a storm that the weather man said was coming one evening. As I watched the clouds roll by, I remembered some storms that occurred in my life and they seemed to have just rolled by. I also remembered that in every storm there is a center and in that center is a calm. That calm was designed by God to give relief. Are you in a storm today? The center is coming your way. Thank God.
Blessings! The old hymn says to "Count Your Blessings, name them one by one". What a wonderful song. Have you ever tried to count your blessings? I read an article in the paper once that said "What a world this would be if we could forget our troubles as easily as we forget our blessings". It is a blessing to realize we are very blessed, by a God who can afford to bless us.
